The Cowboys Didn't Play to Win. They Played Not to Lose.

Bad Coaching or Bad Execution?

Dallas led Arizona 27–24 with 2:11 left, recovered the onside kick and started at the Cardinals' 20. One first down would have ended it. It got three plays, minus three yards and a field goal.

The Cowboys Didn't Play to Win. They Played Not to Lose.

And it cost them the game.

Dallas led Arizona 27–24 with just 2:11 remaining. The Cowboys recovered an onside kick and took over at the Cardinals' 20-yard line.

One first down. That's all they needed to win.

So what did Brian Schottenheimer's offense do?

❌ First down: Run for ZERO yards.

❌ Second down: Play-action pass. Dak sacked for a 6-yard loss.

❌ Third-and-16: Another run. Just 3 yards.

❌ CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens? BOTH on the sideline for the first two plays.

Three plays. Negative three yards. Zero first downs.

Instead of putting the game away, Dallas settled for a field goal.

Arizona marched 80 yards for a touchdown, forced overtime, and won 33–30.

This is a coaching failure.

You have Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens. You need one first down to end the game.

And you decide to play scared?

There's a difference between protecting a lead and surrendering your opportunity to win.

The Cowboys keep talking about accountability.

So who's holding the coaching staff accountable?

Stat note: Dallas recovered the onside kick at the Arizona 20 with 2:11 left and a 27-24 lead, gained minus-3 yards on three plays, and kicked a 41-yard field goal to lead 30-24. Arizona answered with an 80-yard, 1:03 touchdown drive, missed the extra point, and won 33-30 in overtime on a 42-yard kick. Dak Prescott said after the game he wanted that drive back; Brian Schottenheimer said the Cowboys were "trying to stay patient with the run game."
